Snyder County Republican Committee Chairman Nick Gingrich said he served on Keller's campaign in the past and considers Keller a family friend.

"I'm quite happy he's running for the district," Gingrich said. "He served the 85th very well over the past nine years. He has the skill set and I'm confident he will do well on the federal level."

Keller is a "very smart and hard working" individual who understands the issues, and does his research on topics before forming his positions, he said.

"He will be a good addition to the Republican team in Washington," Gingrich said.
